A note from the staff of Kabbalah Online in Tzefat
In many places, Lag B'Omer (Wednesday night-Thursday) is 'picnic day,' 'bonfire night, 'outing day' and so forth. In Israel it is primarily "Zohar Day,"
especially here in the Safed area, with 150,000 people making the pilgrimage to Meron and the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, source of the Zohar teachings. The first 3 articles examine different aspects of this important occasion. The 4th article (which includes a lengthy Zohar quote) is for "Pesach Sheni / 2nd Passover" (this Sunday) the Torah's most overlooked holiday! The final three are for the Torah Reading (including two from the Holy Ari of Tzefat!). (Those of you in Israel should click to Behar for articles on the Weekly Reading there. For something on ch. 4 of Pirkei Avot, go to our Avot menu page.)
