The verses beginning with G‑d telling Moses "This month is for you", (Ex.12:2) refer to Rosh Chodesh Nissan, the first of the months, and are read at that time every year to remind the Jews to prepare for traveling to the Temple in Jerusalem for Passover. It continues with a description of the commandments of the Paschal lamb and matza. Rabbi Shlomo Zevin in his book "L'Torah U'l'Moadim" writes that the 7-day week is a convention accepted by mankind, based on divine will. The 30-day lunar month, on the other hand, is based on a measured event in nature. The inner dimension of the words "This month is for you" is to tell us that more is expected of us than just learning Torah and praying. We are also supposed to transform and sanctify the physical world, through our thoughts, speech and actions in our daily mundane affairs. "This month is for you" - for you to elevate to G‑dliness.
