A note from the staff of Kabbalah Online in Tzefat
Candlelighting for Shabbat is hinted at the end of this week's Torah reading, Chaye Sarah (see Rashi there); our lead article portrays the candlelighting from a woman's Kabbalistic perspective.
In Israel, Shabbat Chaye Sarah is known as "Shabbat Hebron" because it opens with a detailed account of Our patriarch Abraham's purchase of the Cave of Machpela (see articles #6-7). It's main theme is matchmaking; #2 examines the concept of soul-mates according to Kabbalah. The 5th article, "King David and his Wives," relates deeply to the Haftorah reading; #3 is about a unique book and a unique person. Dedication
In honor of the thousands of emissaries of the Lubavitcher Rebbe
involved in the mitzvah of "Love Your Fellow Jew" all over the world, who are converging in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn this week |
