We are now in the Three Weeks between fast days (see articles #1-2), leading up to Tisha b'Av, commemorating the destruction of the Holy Temples in Jerusalem.
The 3rd article is for the 2nd chapter of the third cycle of Pirkei Avot, which many continue to study on Shabbat afternoons throughout the summer, until Rosh Hashana.
For the last three months, Israel and the Diaspora have been out of sync, with different weekly readings, due to the differing lengths of the respective Passover celebrations. Now, this week we are all reading Masei, whether singly or combined with Matot. Therefore, we will celebrate this unifying Weekly Reading with 3 articles (5-7) on Masei and only one (#4) on Matot.
Friday is Rosh odesh Av, when the restrictions of this three-week mourning period for the Holy Temples in Jerusalem intensify for the final 9-10 days. Read all about it next week.
The last three articles (#5-7) relate to the Weekly Reading, Pinchas.
