A note from the staff of Kabbalah Online in Tzefat
This Torah reading repeats the instructions for distinguishing between pure and impure species, and between proper and invalid slaughtering — these are the subjects of our first two articles.
Articles 4-5 are two pleasing insights from famous Kabbalists of the 16th and 18th century respectively. Shabbat is also Rosh Chodesh Elul, a major turning point of the year — see article #6, which connects it with the Weekly Torah reading. The story (#7) is about one of the holiest Jewish leaders in the 20th century (whose yahrzeit is Erev Shabbat, Erev Rosh Chodesh) Dedication
whose first yahrzeit falls on the 24th of this Menachem Av |
