A note from the staff of Kabbalah Online in Tzefat
This is the first full week of the merry month of ADAR B 5776, in which we are commanded to increase in joy every day, no doubt because it contains the ultimate fun holiday of Purim (Next week: special PURIM issue!).
This Shabbat, the one that precedes Purim, we append to the Weekly Reading an extra section, called Zachor (see articles #1-2). In this first reading of the third book, Vayikra, there is detailed discussion of different types of offerings and sacrifices — One element common to them all is that they were accompanied by salt.
