Knowing One's Place
The essential struggle of Korach was over the soul-root of the generation
After the incident with the Spies, G-d declared that that first generation - whose divine consciousness was "male" - would perish in the desert and only the next generation - a "female" divine consciousness - would enter the Land of Israel. This change was necessary in order for them to enter the Land of Israel and concretize the abstract consciousness of the first generation.
Confounding the Work of Creation
Korach refused to reconcile because his quarrel was not "for the sake of heaven."
Korach was a Levite and moreover was the head of the Levites; he embodied the highest aspect of all states of gevura, whereas Aaron embodied the highest aspect of all states of chesed. Their natures are fundamentally opposed and this was the basis of Korach’s quarrel.
