A note from the staff of Kabbalah Online in Tzefat
This Shabbat, the first after Tisha B'Av, is special; it is known as Nachamu — the Shabbat of Consolation.
In addition, there is a not-so-well known holiday that falls this week, when the single Jewish women used to dance and sing together in the fields. (Lead article) Spectacularly, the Weekly Reading contains both the first paragraph of Judaism's primary prayer, Shema Yisrael (articles #2, 3, 7), AND the repetition of the first formulation of the mitzvahs, The Ten Commandments, (4th article), of which Shabbat is the fourth (see article #5 by highly regarded author-translator Simcha H. Benyosef). The 6th article focuses on our most frequently asked question, appropriate to look at again in the week following the yahrzeit-hillula of the holy Ari. |
