A note from the staff of Kabbalah Online in Tzefat
The name of this week's reading, "Teruma," refers to the donations of materials for building the Sanctuary. Today the word is used, like "tzedaka," to refer to all giving to worthy Jewish causes. The final article, the story, offers an intriguing insight into this mitzva.
Articles #2-3 are for the Merry Month of Adar — in which we are commanded to increase in joy every day, no doubt because it contains the ultimate fun holiday of Purim — which begins on Thursday this week. After reading the lead article on gender, consider the cherubim made of pure gold (articles #5-6) that sat atop the Holy Ark of the Covenant in the Temple in Jerusdalem. |
