This is the first full week of the Jewish month called "Shevat"; articles #2-3 offer mystical insight into the occasion, including how to rectify our eating habits.

It is in this week's Torah Reading, Bo, which relates all the events immediately prior to the Exodus, that we find the first mention of Mezuzahs on doorposts—
see the lead article for an interesting analysis of a modern question on mezuzahs from one of the leading teachers of Kabbalah in our generation.
Bo also contains two of the four biblical texts that are inscribed in tefillin--see article #4.

Monday night-Tuesday, 4 Shevat, is the yahrzeit of Rabbi Yisrael Abuhatzira--“the Baba Sali,” as he was affectionately known throughout the Jewish world.
Tens of thousands of people are expected to converge at his resting place in Netivot this week. (See article #7 - story)

Next week: special Tu B'Shvat edition.
