A note from the staff of Kabbalah Online in Tzefat
Spectacularly, this
week's Reading contains both the first paragraph of Judaism's primary prayer,
Shema Yisrael (article #7, Story),
AND the repetition of the first formulation of the mitzvahs, The Ten Commandments, of which Shabbat is the fourth (5th article). This Shabbat, the first after Tisha B'Av, is special; it is known as the Shabbat of Consolation. In addition, there is a not-so-well known holiday that falls this week on Friday, when single Jewish women used to dance and sing together in the fields. (articles #1-2) |
