A note from the staff of Kabbalah Online in Tzefat
The weekly reading of Balak contains the most basic prophecy about the coming of Moshiach, as the Rambam (Maimonides) explains. The first 3 articles address this topic.
The 4th, on the Weekly chapter of Pirkei Avot, is from the Rebbe Rayatz of Chabad whose yahrzeit falls this week on Monday, 12 Tammuz. The yahrzeit of the Ohr HaChayim, the great 18th century Moraccan kabbalist, also falls this week, on Thursday. Next week's edition will feature one of his teachings. The grand finale is an astounding story, centered on a verse from the weekly reading. The 17th of Tammuz is the dawn-to-nightfall fast day commemorating the breaching of the walls of Jerusalem, leading to the destruction of the Holy Temple on the 9th of Av, three weeks later. Since this year it falls on Shabbat, the fast is postponed until the following day, Sunday. ATTENTION! This month, Kabbalaonline-Shop offers a Triple Prayer Special, including to Rabbi Moshe Cordevero's gravesite, on the anniversary of his yahrzeit-hilula [July 10, 2015]. Dedication
In tribute to Rabbi Chaim Ben-Atar, the "Ohr HaChaim" of blessed memory, whose yahrzeit falls on this Sunday.
