"Emor" sounds a bit like "Omer"
and indeed, this week's reading contains the source verses for the mitzvah of Counting the Omer, which we are in the midst of now (see articles 5 and 6). Meanwhile, Wednesday is the yahrzeit of one of the most important Kabbalists of the modern era, Rabbi Chayim Vital (see the lead article), the only one permitted to record in writing the teachings of the Holy Ari of Safed (Rabbi Yitchak Luria). |
