KOSHER KABBALA FROM THE MYSTICAL CITY OF SAFED, ISRAEL

KABBALISTIC LAG B'OMER SEMINAR

Safed

Resting place of the Holy Arizal, great teacher of Kabbalah and founder of the Lurianic system of Kabbalah. In his brief life he revealed and explained the deepest secrets of Jewish mysticism. Safed is one of the four Holy Cities of Israel, related to the element of "Ruach," Spirit or Air. It is said "The Air of the Land of Israel makes one wise," - this is especially true of the Air of Safed, enriched by the holiness and wisdom of the tzadikim who lived, prayed, studied and taught here, and rest in the Old Cemetary awaiting the Redemption.

Safed is one of the most ancient cities in the world. The modern city is built on ruins that date back to the time of the Second Temple, and the Metsudah hilltop was reputedly used for kindling signal fires to announce the New Moon in the time of the First Temple. Today the Metsudah is the site (of excavation in progress) of the largest and most well preserved Crusader fortress in Israel.

The Old City neighborhood of Safed features beautiful ancient synagogues dating from the time of the Arizal, including the stunning restored Abuhav synagogue, the synagogue of the Rav Shlomo Alkabetz who composed the mystical Shabbat hymn "Lecha Dodi," the synagogue of Rabbi Yosef Caro and many more. Visitors from around the world come to pay homage to the great tzadikim buried in Safed's Old Cemetary, and to immerse in the spiritually purifying waters of the Ari Mikveh - so called because the Ari himself is known to have immersed there.

Take in the air of Safed with every breath while you explore Jewish mysticism with some of today's leading teachers of Kabbalah.
